Commandant, Russian Refugee Camp.

The Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General

South China, Hong Kong

Kowloon 24th October 1904.

Sir,

I have the honour to request that you will forward through the prescribed channel this my application

for extra duty pay in connection with the Russian refugees

interned in the Camp at King's Park, Kowloon,

(a) As Officer Commanding the said persons and

Camp.

(b) As Interpreter to the Camp.

2. I am aware that the Royal Warrant for Pay etc makes no provision for the appointment referred to in (a)

above.

At the same time I respectfully beg to submit that, as it is

an unique one and entails a considerable amount of extra work

and responsibility, it merits special provision in respect to

extra duty pay.

3. As regards (b) above,

I trust that my application may be considered with reference

to the Royal Warrant for Pay etc, Part I Sec III, para 267,

for, although I am not employed as interpreter on the same

footing as therein mentioned, nevertheless my duties in this

respect are, for all practical purposes, analogous.

As regards my classification as officer interpreter, I would

mention that I passed the Interpreter's test in Russian in the

examination
